France : 2015 reinsurance market results

The Paris financial market has lost its appeal. The French reinsurance market in 2015 recorded lower life and non-life premiums.

They went from 5 493 million EUR (6 677 million USD) in 2014 to 5 365 million EUR (5 862 million USD) in 2015.

This decline is reflected in the positioning of the French market, which now stands in fifth place worldwide.

According to the Association of reinsurance professionals in France (Apref), the decrease in premiums is explained, among other reasons, by the increasing retentions of ceding companies and the centralizing of reinsurance programs of large groups such as Axa, Allianz, Generali...
