26.7 million USD paid as compensation for the damage of the 2011 revolution

The Technical Commission in charge of compensating the affected units during the 2011 revolution events has indemnified 704 enterprises.
The total amount of compensation, 26.7 million USD has been grouped into:

  • 11.3 million USD for 320 commercial enterprises
  • 7.2 million USD for 111 units of the industrial sector
  • 5.9 million USD for 180 agricultural units
  • 2.3 million USD for 93 service firms

Moreover, according to Imen Larbi, deputy general manager of the general insurance committee, 40 cases are in the process of being finalized.

It should be noted that, Tunis Re has been mandated to manage this vast operation of compensation which is funded by a loan of 43 million USD granted to the insured Guarantee Fund.
The rest of the loan will be used to regulate the market in case of insurers inability to meet their financial commitments.
