30% of customers willing to purchase insurance products from web giants

According to a survey conducted by Capgemini, 30% of consumers surveyed in 20 different countries are open to purchasing insurance products from web giants. Such a percentage is a positive index for technology firms who are testing the field to tackle the sector.

An example is the partnership between Apple and the American health insurer Aetna. The insurer provides its employees and customers with free or discounted Apple Watch. Amazon has also entered the market through a specific structure, created in partnership with the bank JPMorgan Chase and Berkshire Hathaway. The objective is to reduce the employees' health expenses of the three partners.

The e-commerce giant has also launched a product insurance in the UK and could extend its projects to the rest of Europe.
