5.7% increase in profits of Arig group

Despite a decrease of 5% of its gross premiums (262 million USD in 2013 against 276.5 million USD in 2012), the Arig group achieved, in 2013, a net profit of 18.6 million USD, up by 5.7% compared to the previous year (17.6 million USD).
Although positive, the result is penalized by the relative unfitness of takaful group activities. The subsidiary Takaful Re has recorded a loss of 5.2 million USD and a reduction of 43% of its portfolio, which has passed to 21.5 million USD. In 2013, the re-takaful industry only totaled 8% of the total gross premiums of the group.
