Guinea: A general strike paralyzes the country

On the 1st of last December, a general strike affecting the banking and insurance sector brought the country to a standstill. Pay rise was at the core of the multiple demands.

Following the failure of the negotiations,the FESABAG (the trade union federation of banks and insurance) called for a nationwide strike. Alpha Ibrahima Keira, Minister, Secretary General to the presidency, has pledged a 30% salary increase in return for the immediate cessation of the strike.
