A probable increase in the overseas investment limit in India

capitalIndia could raise the maximum rate of overseas investments within the capital of Indian insurers from 49% to 74%. The measure is expected to be introduced in the next Finance Act, effective by 2020. The authorities are yet to regulate this amendment.

For the record, the Indian government have cancelled the restrictions imposed on foreign investors in insurance intermediation since September 2, 2019. These latter have been able to increase their participation to 100% in the share capital of a brokerage company.
