Adoption of universal health insurance in 2015

According to some estimates, nearly 90% of Burkinabe do not receive social benefits. To fill this gap, the authorities are planning to introduce universal health insurance in 2015. This system based on national solidarity will allow the most disadvantaged social groups to benefit from total or partial support (rate of 60% to 80% ) depending on the type of care required.
The implementation of this program will be gradual and will begin as of 2014 with the integration of the informal sector's workers and the have-nots. By 2025, the entire country will have integrated this insurance scheme.
