African insurers are optimistic about the future of the market

The third barometer of the African insurance was published on the sidelines of the 45th General Assembly of the African Insurance Organization (OAA), held from 6 to 9 May 2017 in Accra (Ghana).

The study conducted among senior executives of African insurance companies shows a renewed confidence in this industry. The generalization of new technologies and the diversification of distribution channels are the main levers for the development of the sector.

The volume of premiums generated on the continent has been growing steadily in local currencies since 2011. Unfortunately, in dollars, sales are down because of the devaluation of the main African currencies against the US currency. In dollars, the African market made 60.71 billion USD in premiums in 2016.
