Agricultural insurance in Algeria, a wealth of premiums greately untapped

Due to the difficult economic situation, Algerian insurers are now targeting agriculture to improve their turnover. Several insurance companies have manifested their intention to develop this class of business. These enterprises are Compagnie Algérienne d’Assurance et de Réassurance (CAAR), Compagnie Algérienne d'Assurance Transport (CAAT) and Générale Assurance Méditerranéenne (GAM).

"a reform of the agricultural insurance is, nevertheless, required to better take advantage of the opportunities offered by this niche", Cherif Benhabiles, general manager of the Caisse Nationale de la Mutualité Agricole (CNMA) insisted.
