Agricultural insurance in hard times

At the close of its proceedings, the national consultation on the sector of agricultural insurance has pointed out the shortcomings of the risk cover scheme. It has called upon insurers to invest more in the sector.
Despite the measures designed to invigorate this class of business, the agricultural sector's cover remains below expectations. Currently, it is estimated that only 7% of the Tunisian farmers are insured. The insurance of agricultural risks contribute with up to 2% in the turnover of the whole sector.
