Agricultural land fires in Algeria: 22.52 million USD of insurable damages

Agricultural land firesIn Algeria, 1,800 hectares of farmlands burst into flames. The provisional balance sheet shows 2.7 billion (USD 22.52 million USD) of insurable damages.

The Caisse Nationale de Mutualité Agricole (CNMA), which is directly involved in the compensation process, has so far received 107 fire claims out of 13 wilayas. Watch cells have been installed in all affected areas to facilitate the indemnification of the insured.

The CNMA has also provided fire extinguishers to affected farmers to help them deal with fires that could resurface and affect their vehicles or machinery.

Livestock producers await the decision of the Ministry in charge of determining the eligibility conditions and the procedures to be followed for compensation.
