AIG bounces back in 2019

AIGAfter a net loss of 6 million USD reported at the end of 2018, AIG has returned to profitability and posted a net result of 3.3 billion USD in 2019. Its net profit for the fourth quarter of 2019 amounted to 922 million USD against a net loss of 622 million USD one year earlier.

For the American insurer, this strong performance is accounted for by the lower motor and natural disasters claims and by the increasing investment income. Falling below 100%, AIG's combined ratio also improved to 99.6% against 111.4% in 2018.
