Allianz completes the acquisition of Ensure Insurance

Allianz has completed the purchase of 99.03% of the capital of the Nigerian insurer Ensure Insurance. This transaction comes almost one year after the signing of the acquisition agreement in early September 2017, with Greenoaks Global Holdings, the company’s majority shareholder.

For the time being, Ensure Insurance continues to operate under the same name.

"With a population of more than 190 million, Nigeria is one of the continent's largest markets, with a favorable regulatory environment and significant growth potential," said Coenraad Vrolijk, CEO of Allianz Africa.

At the end of May 2018, the German giant had already taken an 8% stake in the capital of Pan-African reinsurer Africa Re.
