An agreement to regulate and supervise the insurance companies

The East African countries will sign in late March 2009 a protocol which will enable them to regulate and control insurance companies. This moves comes after 2 500 complaints have been lodged in 2007 against insurers. The agreement is designed to prevent the establishment in the area of any insurance company convicted of swindle and the redeployment of intermediaries deemed to be non professional.
