ARC pool will receive 150 million USD

The countries present in Paris for the COP 21 climate conference in early December will bring 150 million USD to African Risk Capacity (ARC).

The main promises emanating from the United States, Great Britain, Germany, Canada and France. ARC is an insurance and reinsurance pool specialized in the coverage of natural disasters in Africa.

The capacities offered are supported by a set of states of the continent. The pool has developed a model climate risk transfer in the form of parametric insurance.

It also has the required tools to underwite other risks of a catastrophic nature, other than climate-related ones.

ARC hopes to double by 2020, its capacity to 1.5 billion USD. It will then be necessary to involve international organizations such as UN agencies.
