Assessment of the natural disasters listed in 2007

According to the toll established by Swiss Re on its publication Sigma, the 142 natural catastrophes listed in 2007 should cost insurers 23 billion USD and the 193 technical catastrophes more than four billion USD. The major climate events that have affected Europe are the storm Kyill (6.1 billion USD) losses in Germany, United Kingdom, Belgium and the Nethelands) and the torrential rain followed by floods in the summer of 2007 (United Kingdom, 4.8 billion USD losses).
