Aviation insurance, sharp increases expected in 2015

According to various specialists, the recent relentless series of plane crashes should result in an increase, expected between 15 to 30%, of aviation insurance premiums.

This hike would intervene after a peaceful decade in terms of plane accidents, and annual prices' decreases of 10 to 20%.

The insurer AXA, present in this segment, has already announced in August, via its president, that "these disasters, to which the cost represents more than the premiums received in 2014, should have an impact on the next year's pricing."

According to the french broker SPVIE, aviation premiums received in 2014 (TPL, hull and war) have amounted to 1.5 billion USD, against 1.815 billion USD of claims to date.
