Big growth of health insurance

Health insurance has grown by 30% between 2008 and 2009 reaching 66.25 billion INR (1.4 billion USD) by the end of 2009, compared to 51.25 billion (1.04 billion USD) in the previous year. It ranks second on the market in terms of premium volume (22%) behind the motor class of business (40%). In addition to public awareness, the growth of this segment is owed to the central and federal authorities who have set out large-scale health insurance schemes.
