Breakdown of ransomware attacks in the world
ANOZR WAY, a start-up specializing in supporting companies and developing solutions to combat cyber-attacks, has published its ransomware barometer for the year 2021.
According to the study, the number of ransomware cyber-attacks has been on the rise throughout 2021. Between July and November, the number of attacks doubled and then recorded a decline in December. This decrease can be explained by the existence of a latency between the moment of infection by a virus and the moment the hackers make their demands.
North America accounts for 52% of hacking incidents. Next comes Europe with 28% of the claimed cases, followed by Asia and the Middle East with 8% and 5% of the recorded cases respectively. Finally, Oceania represents 2% of the attacks and Africa only 1%.
The top 5 countries most affected by ransomware are the United States (47%), the United Kingdom (6%), France (5%), Canada (5%) and Germany (4%).
