Brexit: an agreement can be reached

BrexitBrexit - On Thursday, October 17, 2019, an agreement was reached between the United Kingdom and the 27 members of the European Union. The text negotiated with Theresa May a year ago is kept unchanged notably in its provisions concerning the status of expatriates and British commitments.

Most of the changes deal with the status of Northern Ireland. According to the last agreement, Northern Ireland will be included in the British customs zone while a customs frontier shall separate Great Britain from that zone. This will allow the United Kingdom to independently negotiate trade agreements with the rest of the world.

The agreement of October 17th must be approved by the British Parliament. In case of rejection, Boris Johnson Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, will be requested to the postpone the Brexit until the end of January, 2020.
