Capital increase

In compliance with the recently adopted regulation, the insurance companies have a three-year period (until 2010) to proceed with a capital increase according to the following conditions:

  • for the life insurance companies, the capital shall rise from 50 million KES (752 000 USD) to 150 million KES (2.257 million USD).
  • for the non-life insurance companies, the capital shall climb from 100 million KES (1.5 million USD) to 300 million KES (4.5 million USD).
  • for the companies operating in the life and non-life insurance, the capital is set at 450 million KES (6.7 million USD).
