Car stamp duty collection in Cameroon

taxesThe government of Cameroon has announced a forced collection of the car stamp duty for the year 2021. To this end, a roadside inspection will be conducted from 22 November 2021 to 11 December 2021 throughout the country.

The failing drivers are invited to contact their insurance companies to regulate their situation.

Rates vary from 2 000 FCFA (3.42 USD) for two-wheelers to 150 000 FCFA (256.503 USD) for a vehicle with more than 20 HP.

Breachers risk a 100% tax penalty, a fine and the impounding of the vehicle.

For the record, the car stamp duty has been collected, since 1 January 2017, by insurance companies when taking out or renewing the compulsory third-party liability insurance policy.
