Compulsory third-party liability insurance for the police

Police USASenator Alessandra Biaggi has introduced a bill on 6 July 2020 by, to bind all New York City police officers to a compulsory third-party liability insurance.

According to the state senator, the introduction of this new law aims to decrease police violence. It shall help limit the misconduct of law enforcement officers.

Offending officers will see their insurance premiums increase for misconduct resulting in any payment related to a complaint filed by civilians.
