Controversy over suspension of third-party payer option in Côte d'Ivoire

The Federal Union of Consumers of Côte d'Ivoire (UFC-CI) has contested the decision of the Association of Insurance Companies of Côte d'Ivoire (ASACI) to suspend the "third-party payer" option in health insurance. The UFC-CI believes that such a decision is likely to harm the interest of the insured and therefore slow down the insurance activity in the country.

ASACI justifies its decision, which came into effect on August 3, 2018, on the grounds of the rising costs of hospitalization and medical care.
