Coronavirus: the FMSAR produces a series of measures

FMSAR Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance companiesFollowing a meeting, held on March 20 2020, with the president of the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), the Moroccan Federation of Insurance and Reinsurance companies (FMSAR) introduces new measures in favor of policyholders and insurance intermediaries.

The measures related to the coronavirus crisis, are the following:

  • Motor insurance contracts that expired on March 20, 2020 are to be extended until April 30, 2020. Policyholders will thus be able to renew them until the end of the aforementioned period.
  • Health insurance contracts will now include coronavirus-related medical and pharmaceutical procedures.
  • Workmen's compensation contracts cover telecommuting as long as it is authorized by the employer, with the exception of household accidents.
  • Insurance companies will, in coordination with the supervisory authority, implement support measures for insurance distribution networks and intermediaries (agents and brokers).
  • ACAPS will proceed to loosen certain prudential measures such as the provision of receivables on intermediaries.
