Covid-19: coverage of psychological consultation fees

After a year of health crisis, the psychological state of French people, especially the young, is becoming increasingly worrisome.

According to a recent study conducted by the French Institute of Public Opinion (Ifop), 30% of the people surveyed described their morale as bad and 47% considered their life as hard to bear.

Faced with this situation, the insurers within the French Insurance Federation (FFA), the French Mutuality and the Pension Institutions are setting up a system to support the policyholders' mental health.

The health insurance companies are committed to reimburse from the first euro the cost of consultations with a psychologist, based on a medical prescription.

Four sessions may be covered in 2021 up to a limit of 60 EUR (71.4 USD) per session. It should be noted that psychologist visits are not covered by the compulsory health insurance plan.

This initiative is not going to take effect immediately. The three organizations would first like to initiate an exchange with the representatives of the unions of doctors and psychologists.
