Covid-19 vaccination may become mandatory in the EU

In Austria, mandatory vaccination of adults against Covid-19 will come into effect at the beginning of February 2022, while in Germany, a draft law on the matter will be submitted to parliament.

In a press conference held on 1 December 2021 on the development of the pandemic, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, said that the European Union should consider compulsory vaccination of adults.

Ursula von der Leyen also announced that Pfizer-BioNTech's vaccine for children should be available in the EU starting 3 December 2021.
