Covid-19 vaccine trial: death of a volunteer

vaccin covid-19As part of the Covid-19 vaccine trial program developed by Oxford University in partnership with the pharmaceutical group AstraZeneca, a volunteer deceased on Wednesday 21 October 2020. The victim, a 28-year-old Brazilian doctor, was on the front line of fighting the coronavirus.

An independent committee has concluded that the vaccine developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca is safe to use and the phase three of trial shall continue. The volunteer had received one dose of placebo and the test procedures were fully respected. The volunteer died from complications related to a Covid-19 infection.

For the record, in September 2020, the Oxford vaccine trial was suspended after a volunteer caught an unexplained disease in the UK.
