Cyber ​​attacks, a major threat to the energy sector

During the East Asian Insurance Congress, which was held from 11 to 15 October in Macao (China), Trust Re was concerned about the rising cost of cyber attacks regarding the energy industry .

According to the Bahraini reinsurer, cyber attacks could cause, by 2018, two billion USD of losses in the energy sector. The reason is that the increasing digitization of industrial control systems augments the sector's vulnerability.

As a whistleblower , Trust Re also highlights the difficulties that traditional insurance is meeting to provide sufficient capacity for this kind of risk which is hard to identify and quantify.
