Debate over the obligation of motor insurance in Guinea-Conakry

The road traffic and insurance professionals met on 18 January 2019 at the headquarters of the Motor Guarantee Fund in Matam, Conakry (Guinea).

The representatives of land transport, the police and the gendarmerie, the Union of road carriers, the trade unions, the brokers and motor experts exchanged on the promotion of motor insurance culture. The discussion focused on the obligation of underwriting a motor insurance cover.

According to the executive chairman of Guinea's professional association of insurers (APAG), seven Guineans out of ten would currently be running without insurance. As a reminder, 800 000 vehicles and 700 000 motorcycles travel on the country's roads.
