Decrease in the number of traffic accidents in Tunisia in 2018

According to figures reported by the National Observatory for Road Safety (ONSR), 5877 accidents took place in 2018, claiming the lives of 1205 people and injuring 8869 others.

Although Tunisian roads are still deadly, they recorded a 15.71% decrease in the number of accidents in 2018, compared to 2017. Casualties also declined by 11.98% and the number of injured persons fell by 15%.

Still according to ONSR report, carelessness while driving accounted for 1146 accidents in 2018. 1057 accidents were caused by pedestrian's inattentiveness while crossing the road and 999 accidents were due to speeding.
