Delphine Maidou Traoré, new President of the African Insurance Organisation (AIO)

Delphine Traoré , Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Allianz Africa, has been appointed President of the the African Insurance Organisation (AIO). The decision was made public at the closing ceremony of The AIO 46th annual general meeting held in Johannesburg from June 9 to 13, 2019.

D. Traoré, previously AIO Vice-President, succeeded hence Arethu Duku, Managing Director of Ghana Union Assurance.

Endowed with a rich experience in insurance, D. Traoré began her career in 1996 by joining Ohio Casualty Group of Insurance. In 2005, she joined Allianz where she served as Head of Market Management Canada, then Chief Executive Officer of AGCS Africa. In February 2017, she was promoted Chief Operations Officer of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) Africa. Delphine Traore is also a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of Allianz Global Corporate & specialty (AGCS).

Having completed her entire academic studies in the United States, Delphine Traoré holds a Bachelor of Science in Business/Accounting from Pittsburgh University in 1996 and a Masters of Science in Insurance Management from Boston University in 2005.

The Institut Choiseul ranks her among the main African economic leaders of the future, while Jeune Afrique Magazine positions her among the top 50 most influential French-speaking women in 2017.
