Dismantlement of an international network of life insurance scams

Strasbourg investigation police has dismantled a network of scams composed of a dozen people of different nationalities. The fraudsters who were operating in France, Switzerland and Belgium were pretending to be lawyers for families of deceased persons.

The modus operandi was to make the victims believe that the victims had underwritten a life insurance abroad. The scammers managed to convince the families to pay them money in order to unlock the so-called sum deposited for the fake life insurance.

The case would involve, in total, more than 250 victims for an estimated loss of 6 million USD. The latter was solved after five years of investigation and cooperation with the authorities of more than 15 countries.
