Delivery companies and robotized taxis are poised to be the first customers. This technology will enable its users not only to make payroll savings but also to display better logistics.

As for individual customers, the market will not be accessible before 2025. The generalization of driverless cars in the commercial sector is likely to add to the decrease of the cost for the Light Detection and Ranging-based sensor (LIDAR), the most expensive component of this technology.

K. Clark estimates that cost of this part, which now amounts to more than 80 000 USD, is likely to fall down to 5 000 USD by 2025.

Based in the city of Troy (Michigan), Delphi has been since December 5, 2017 broken down into two entities: Aptiv and Delphi technologies.
