2020 Izmir earthquake: losses incurred by insurers

CatastropheAccording to an initial estimate by the Turkish Catastrophe Insurance Pool (TCIP), the cost of insured losses caused by the last earthquake have reached 6.3 million TRY (738 170 USD). Only 154 of the victims are covered by an insurance policy.

The magnitude 6.6 earthquake took place on 30 October 2020 in Izmir. The human toll is of 115 dead and 1 034 injured. In terms of material damage, 231 buildings were destroyed and 1 834 were damaged.
