Economic uncertainties strain the insurance business

ZimRe notes that despite the progress made by the local market, the latter remains penalized by the uncertainties around the economic factors. The reinsurer blames life insurance which has been affected by the country's passage from the Zimbabwean dollar to a multiple currency system.
This change has eroded the savings of the policyholders who now feel cheated. ZimRe believes that the government has a role to play in building a stable economic environment, which is vital for the insurance industry.
