Eighteen former NBA players charged with insurance fraud

basketballEighteen former NBA players have been indicted on Thursday, 7 October 2021, for insurance fraud and wire fraud. This type of crime can lead to a 20-year prison sentence.

From 2017 to 2020, the eighteen basketball players in question submitted false dental claims to their insurers. The total amount of damages amounts to 3.9 million USD. The fraudsters have already col-lected 2.5 million USD worth of compensation.

Ronald Glen Davis (Big Dady) and Tony Allen are among the accused. The latter is one of the best defenders in the history of the NBA. He won the 2008 championship with the Boston Celtics. Terrence Williams, who was awarded the All-NBA Development League Team in 2014, is the alleged brains behind the case.
