Elaboration of a federal health insurance scheme

United Arab Emirates are drafting a federal law rendering health insurance compulsory nationwide. This class of business accounts for 31% of the premiums written in the Gulf countries in 2010.
Abdul Khaliq Khalil, general secretary of GAIF (General Arab Insurance Federation), has insisted that the market would adopt some measures to ensure the success of this initiative by namely reviewing policy terms, setting up data bases, tightening control, better managing claims and by increasing cooperation among the different actors.
