UAE insurance sector: 17.2 billion USD invested in 2018

According to the insurance supervisory authority of the United Arab Emirates, the total funds invested in the UAE insurance market reached 63.6 billion AED (17.2 billion USD) in 2018. These figures are likely to increase in the coming years given the country's strong economic development.

According to the same source, 38% of the funds invested are concentrated into shares and bonds while 28% are in the form of deposits. For its part, insurers' share capital is set at AED 1 billion (272 million USD).

The annual market report lists 62 insurance companies across the country, 35 of which are national and 27 foreign.
