Establishment of a large insurance market in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The deregulation of the insurance industry, enacted for several months already, has entered a critical stage. The process of license application for insurance companies has been launched.

Numerous criteria are required to meet the conditions required to operate in DRC, namely having a capital worth 10 million USD, a head office located in the Democratic Republic of Congo and obtaining license for the marketing of life and non life insurance products.

Candidates keen on applying have to do so before the expiry of the deadline set for June 30, 2017.

Upgrading the insurance industry stands among the objectives set by the supervisory and regulatory authorities overseeing the business.
