Estimates of the March 11 loss revised upwards

According to EQECAT’s recent assessments, the toll of the destruction caused by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami has increased significantly. The agency is referring to a figure comprised between 22 and 39 billion USD. The previously published bracket ranged from 12 to 25 billion USD. EQECAT has revised its calculations following an increase in the estimated size of the killer wave from 8 to 25 meters. Property insurers will sustain the most of the loss, that is, 15 to 25 billion USD.
