Europe drives the pandemic

covid-19Europe is facing a fifth wave of Covid-19. From 1 to 7 November 2021, the old continent recorded 5 241 565 new cases, which is 60% of the new diagnosed infections in the world.

The situation started to deteriorate in the last week of October, with the number of infections rising from 2 956 832 to 4 283 860 cases, which represents an increase of 44.9% in seven days.

In the face of the rapidly escalating situation, restrictive measures have been taken again. On 15 November, Austria decided to impose a lockdown on unvaccinated people, that is 35% of the population.

In the Netherlands, a partial lockdown and a series of health restrictions have been implemented.

In France, wearing a mask has become compulsory again in elementary school but no lockdown is yet considered.
