Europe is the number one insurance market in 2010

According to the report by the European insurance committee (CEA), Europe tops the world’s insurance markets. United Kingdom, France and Germany stand as Europe’s key drivers. North America is ranking second followed by Asia. In Europe, premiums are on the rise by 3% at 1107 billion EUR (1 467 billion USD), 61% of which for life insurance, 29% for non-life and 10% for health insurance.

In 2010, insurers paid their European life policyholders 560 billion EUR (742 billion USD) in annuity or funds and 290 billion EUR (384 billion USD) in benefits for motor and health insurance. In the course of 2010, insurers invested 7 300 billion EUR (9 674 billion USD) in the economy.
