Europe, reinforcement of corporate IT systems

The European Commission has endorsed a directive requiring the increase of the security level of IT systems of companies delivering services deemed crucial. Such companies will be compelled to take initiatives ensuring that their IT networks may withstand cyber-attacks.

cyber-attack The list of companies providing essential services shall be drawn up by each country and will include companies operating in the areas of transport, energy, health and finance. Major IT companies will also be involved. This initiative has been designed to standardize cyber security systems among the 28 member States. The provision shall now be approved by the European Council, then by the Parliament.
