European insurers are performing well in the first half of 2015

The major European insurers showed higher results in the first half of 2015 with Zurich Insurance being the only exception to this table. The Swiss group recorded an income down by 3% compared to the same period in 2014.

The low cost of natural disasters and profits recorded in Asia are behind the strong performance of the non life insurance. Despite the persistent low interest rates, life insurance has also recorded higher performances than expected.

In this class of business, the achievement of significant unrealized capital gains weighed positively on the results recorded.
