Financial turmoil has affected European insurers’ soundness

Standard & Poor’s has announced that the confusion characterizing the markets since summer has affected the financial solidity of European insurers. A range of factors including falling stocks and the interest rates of best rated State bonds, rising tension over sovereign debts and recession risks are compromising result perspectives and the situation of European insurers. According to the agency the chances of a recession in Western European countries are of 40% in 2012.
