Fire: flames engulf Colorado
On 30 December 2021, a series of violent fires broke out in the city of Boulder, in the state of Colorado in the western United States.
The disaster has already ravaged more than 600 hectares of vegetation and destroyed hundreds of homes. Thousands of people had to be evacuated. The fire has also devastated hotels and shopping centers.
Wind gusts of 160km/h have fanned the flames and complicated the firemen's work. Residents of Louisville and Superior were ordered to evacuate.
It is believed that global warming and the intensity and frequency of drought and heat waves are at the root of the fire.
