First flying car certified in Japan
Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) has recently granted a safety certificate to startup SkyDrive for its SD-03 flying car. The eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Land) vehicle is able to take off and land vertically.
The SD-03 is a 100% electric vehicle with zero emissions. It can reach a maximum speed of 48km/h and has a battery life of 10 minutes.
In 2025, Japan will host the Osaka World Expo, under the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives". On this occasion, a flying cab service might be available using a fleet of SD-05s.
