Floods in Iran, first loss report

Inondations IranFloods have swept through Iran of on the 9th and 10th March, 2019. Hundreds of houses were destroyed leading to huge economic losses estimated at 3 million USD. The total economic damage to infrastructure and agriculture was listed at up to 77 million USD.

The disaster struck once again a week later (March 17th to April 9th) ravaging several provinces of the country. Consequently, 70 fatalities and 600 injuries have been reported.

In its Global Catastrophe Recap – March 2019 report, Aon states that the event have destroyed 85.000 homes and lead to economic losses of 3.6 billion USD.

Currently, the insurers are working on determining the actual cost of the damages. Nevertheless, they are still unable to provide an official estimation of the incurred losses.
