Floods, less than 1% of the dwellings are insured

According to AIR Worldwide body, more than 750 000 dwellings have been affected by the most serious floods that the region has ever sustained during the last 50 years. The insurance commission has revealed that less than 1% of the dwellings are covered against natural catastrophes. The recent events have affected more than 3 million people claiming the lives of 500. The first toll of material damages referred to 20 billion USD to be covered by insurers, in addition to business interruption which will account for greater losses.
